Music Festival Weekends!

Rifflandia is the music festival hosted in my hometown. I've gone for the last 5 years, and hope I never have to miss it! There were some pretty crazy headliners this year including Courtney Love, Stars, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros! There is also the original night venue portion of the weekend, which I absolutely love because it gives you the oppourtunity to listen to astists live that you may never have even heard of otherwise. Some are local but many are not. I believe this year there were almost 200 performances! What?!! Another plus, there's always awesome local street food!

Some Courtney action. Up close and personal. Sorry if some of my photos are grainy, I'm learning! plus it's dark outside sometimes!

A friend and I stopped for lunch downtown at our favourite tea place before the festival on Saturday for brunch, I got a delicious quiche and salad, and about 8 cups of cream of earl grey tea, of course.

I wish I had photos of the night venue where I saw Kid Koala, a far out DJ. But it was so late that my phone had died! He was wonderful and put on a really fun show! Cheesy (in the best possible way) burlesque dancers with conga lines, limbo poles, puppets, and hundreds of paper airplanes! I love when you can tell a performer is truly enjoying what they are doing on stage, he couldn't get the smile off his face!

Lunch! Jerk poutine from a local Caribbean food restaurant's food truck.

Stars was fantastic. They were one of the artists I was most looking forward to!

Did I mention Sunday was a lightning storm day?

Matt & Kim, complete with balloons, butt shaking, and the most energetic dance moves you'll ever see!

I've also put together a little play lists of some of the artists I was able to catch last weekend. Music Festivals are always one of the many highlights of my summer and Rifflandia was the perfect way to close out summer, as always. I wish I had taken more photos, but I won't apologize for it because my only excuse is that I was enjoying myself too much to pull out my camera!
